Transition

Effective transition is a key part of what we do at Morley Place Academy because it helps every child feel secure, confident, and ready for the next stage of their learning. By carefully supporting pupils as they move between year groups and into new environments, we build strong relationships, reduce anxiety, and ensure continuity in both academic progress and personal development. Our transition work strengthens the foundations for success, allowing every learner to settle quickly and thrive.

During the summer term, our Year 6 pupils took part in an Enhanced Transition programme delivered in partnership with De Warenne Academy. Over several weeks, pupils were taught on-site at De Warenne by their own Year 6 teachers, allowing them to experience lessons, routines, and expectations within a secondary setting while still benefiting from familiar support. This approach helped ease worries, build confidence, and make the move to Year 7 far smoother.

Feedback from both pupils and parents was overwhelmingly positive, and staff at De Warenne have commented on how settled the pupils have been as they start secondary school—something strongly attributed to the transition work completed.

“The enhanced transition has made a noticeable difference to how confidently pupils have begun their secondary journey. Their positive start reflects the strength of the partnership between our schools and the thoughtful preparation put in place.” — De Warenne Academy Leadership Team

We look forward to reviewing and continuing this highly successful programme next academic year.
